RE-ENTRY SERVICES

Purpose Driven

The goal of re-entry programs are to improve public safety by providing offenders with services that are perceived to reduce the risk of recidivism and to improve integration into the community. Successful reentry programs give former offenders opportunities to support themselves through legitimate and productive work, reducing recidivism and improving public safety.

Finding Freedom
Expungement vs. Pardon

In the common law legal system, an expungement proceeding is a type of lawsuit in which a first time offender of a prior criminal conviction seeks that the records of that earlier process be sealed or destroyed, making the records nonexistent or unavailable to the general public. A pardon relieves someone convicted of a crime from penalties, including jail time. A person with expunged records can claim they do not have a criminal conviction on their record. Someone with a pardon is forgiven but still carries a criminal record.
